Come hear author HolLynn D’Lin, as she shares insights related to her first book: Becoming Real in 24 Days – One Participant’s Story of the 1977 504 Demonstrations.

In 1977, protesters took over the fourth floor of the San Francisco Federal building for three and a half weeks. These demonstrations kept up the pressure on President Carter to stop the evisceration of the nation’s first major disability civil rights law, Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act.

A personal memoir as well as history, the book reveals how the ground work was laid for the Americans with Disabilities Act, and illustrates the transformation of the people involved in the protest – how people with disabilities demanded full and equal participation in this country’s opportunities.
