The film was selected to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act for its imaginative thematic treatment of disability and conformity. Millennium Park presents outdoor movies on its state-of-the-art, 40-foot LED screen as part of the Summer Film Series. Chicagoans and visitors are invited to take a seat at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion or enjoy the show from the Great Lawn. For the first time ever, this year’s film series will be captioned.

This critically acclaimed romantic fantasy directed by Tim Burton tells the story of young abandoned Edward (Johnny Depp), a human-like creation who has scissors for hands. Taken in by a concerned suburban couple, he falls in love with their teenage daughter (Winona Ryder) while struggling to adapt to his new home and surroundings. Also stars Dianne Wiest, Anthony Michael Hall, Kathy Baker, Vincent Price and Alan Arkin.
