MY WAY TO OLYMPIA
As part of their 60th anniversary, the McCormick Foundation is hosting a number of documentary screenings in partnership with WTTW Channel 11. In recognition of the 25th anniversary of the ADA, they will screen the documentary, My Way to Olympia at the Chicago History Museum in the newly renovated McCormick Theater on November 16. The documentary follows disabled athletes and their preparations to compete in the 2012 Paralympics. This screening nicely correlates to the Chicago History Museum’s exhibition of images by renowned disability rights photographer Tom Olin. The nineteen-framed prints, on loan from the permanent art collection at Access Living, depict the activists who brought about the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act in July 1990.
