Launched during the 25th anniversary celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the 3Arts Fellowships at the University of Illinois at Chicago support residencies for deaf and disabled artists to create new work and to increase conversation around disability culture. In partnership with the UIC’s Department of Disability and Human Development (the oldest such department in the US) and the School of Art and Art History, the 3Arts Fellowships situate two artists within an urban research institution, connecting artists to UIC’s immense resources while supporting the professional development of the fellows through participation in public programming and optional paid teaching opportunities. Their three-month fellowships include a monthly stipend and necessary accommodations.
