Working with all the students in the 70 plus Big Shoulders Fund elementary schools the Open Door project will visibly capture the spirit of the ADA. Each student will create a 4" x 6" hand colored/hand decorated door out of a large size index card. On the reverse of their individual door they will write how the ADA not only opened doors for people when it was enacted, how it continues to do so today and how it must do so in the future. Strung together and hung in prominent spaces throughout the city these garlands of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of distinctive and unique doors represent how the ADA has opened doors for millions of Americans --- each of whom, like the doors themselves, are unique, distinctive and beautiful people.
