THODOS DANCE CHICAGO'S A LIGHT IN THE DARK: THE STORIES OF HELEN KELLER AND ANNE SULLIVAN
Chicago Children’s Theatre presents Thodos Dance Chicago’s A Light In The Dark: The Stories of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, by award-winning choreographers Ann Reinking and Melissa Thodos. This extraordinary story-ballet shows how Helen Keller’s teacher, Anne Sullivan, led her visually and hearing-impaired student into a world of education, activism and intellectual celebrity. Scheduled for a two-week run in October of 2016, A Light in the Dark fits in the tradition of CCT productions that are fully inclusive experiences.
THE RED KITE PROJECT
The Red Kite Project is the only program of its kind in Chicago, offering groundbreaking experiences (camps, classes and productions) for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In 2015, the Red Kite, Blue Sky original play offered a multi-sensory production that allowed youth with ASD the freedom to experience theatre in a safe and judgment free environment. In addition to shows at the Pritzker Pavilion Choral Room, Red Kite, Blue Sky received funding from The Chicago Community Trust and an in-kind donation from the Chicago Park District to tour three Chicago Parks: Independence, Ridge and Harrison.
Accommodations offered: accessible entrance and exit, accessible bathrooms, elevator access, ASL interpretter, assistive listening device, touch tours, large print programs and audio descriptions.
