LEAGUE OF CHICAGO THEATRES PROGRAMS
GREATER TOGETHER CULTURAL ACCESSIBILITY SUMMIT
In recognition of the 25th anniversary of the ADA, Shawn Donnelley and Nora Daley have created Chicago’s first Cultural Accessibility Summit geared towards the leaders of cultural institutions. The summit will empower and motivate top level officials to make their cultural institutions accessible to visitors with disabilities.
For accommodations information, please contact Ben Thiem at 312.554.9800 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The League will look to increase the quantity and quality of accessibility programming at Chicago area theatres by offering at least two accessibility trainings this year, with one session in the summer and another in the fall 2015. The accessibility training will become a regular offering in The League’s annual schedule of professional development programming for member theatre companies.
COMMUNITY ACCESS CALENDAR
The League will expand promotion of its community access calendar, which includes a new monthly email list for patrons with disabilities. The monthly email list will become an ongoing promotional tool through 2015 and beyond to engage patrons with disabilities to attend theatre productions in Chicago. The calendar enables patrons with disabilities to look for upcoming performances based on their specific access requirements. The calendar includes Touch Tours (TT), ASL-Interpreted (ASL), Audio-Described (AD), and Open-Captioned (C) performances.
