ADA 25 FOR 25 CULTURAL ACCESS PROJECT
The Steep Theatre Company is participating in the 25 for 25 Cultural Access Project, and before developing additional programming, Steep Theatre plans to ensure that its current and future programming is relevant and useful to the communities it is intended to serve. To that end Steep’s focus area for the ADA 25 for 25 Cultural Access Project will be engaging the disability community. Steep plans to create an Accessibility Advisory Council, which will work with Steep’s ensemble and staff to review it’s facilities and current programs and make recommendations for new ways that Steep can improve its accessibility.
Ensuring accessibility at any organization is an ongoing endeavor, and at a small cultural organization like Steep, it is crucial to expand accessibility programming in a sustainable way that is both relevant to patrons and feasible given Steep’s limited capacity. By forming a Accessibility Advisory Council, Steep will create the framework that will allow it to maximize the impact of its accessibility programming for years to come.
ABOUT STEEP THEATRE COMPANY
Steep Theatre Company was founded in 2000 with little more than a shoestring budget and a desire to work in an open, ensemble atmosphere. Over the years, the company has become a dedicated, close-knit group driven by a shared commitment to the organization’s mission: To bring out the everyday truths in the stories we tell through ensemble work and to reach out to non-traditional theatregoers by seeking out stories and creating experiences relevant to them.
